my lab puppy is sick

I have a 9 week old akc black lab( his name is TARR) and he is not good. about two days ago he started acted funny about the way that he walked. he has not gotten into anything that has caused him to get sick. all of a sudden he has no strength in his legs to let him walk. the vet isn't really sure what to think of it either. he is eating and drinking fine, he shows to be in no pain, not whimpering, he just acts like he doesn't have any power in his legs. just wandering if anyone has any similar actions with their dog in the past. let me know. thank you very much for any input.

My first thought was parvo except you say he's eating and drinking... I'd be really concerned if he stops with that as well. I lost a Rottie many years ago. Took him to the park before his shot series was completed. Learned my lesson the hard way... It was aweful and started with being weak, got worse from there rapidly - within a couple of days! If he's getting worse (or maybe just anyway), I'd rush him to a different vet for a 2nd opinion. Good luck and I hope he turns around soon!

I would also seek another vets opinion. Also, how long have you had him and where did you get him from? Maybe talk to the person you got him from

That doesn't sound good...I would maybe want a different opinion. Let us know how it goes.

I agree,I wouldn't wait,go get another opinion, does he have runny black diarhea, that really has a fould odor? If he does, its parvo, and to save them, they have to be on a iv drip, and medicine at a vet hospital, they die quick,so every moment is important. Other then that,I have no idea, unless he has had a spinal injury of some sort. How does his gums look, are they pink?

Red face my lab pup

well we have narrowed his symptoms to one diagnosis- POLYRADICULONEURITIS, ( Coonhound Paralysis) this disease describes tarr to the T. I have studied the affects and rehabilitation for him and I hope that he will be OK. IF anyone has heard of this or had any expierence with this please let me know. they say that he will come out of it ok, but i was jsut wandering if anyone has any input on it or what i should do with him. he is still at the vet and i am going to bring him home tonight. they said that he should be ok with some TLC. He has not been bitten by a raccoon, but i have read that dogs can get this disease by a vaccination. let me know--- thank you!!

I have never heard of it, but I really hope he gets better! It is awful when our four legged babies get sick. Quick recovery to Tarr and best wishes to you!

Glad to hear that you know what it is and how it can be treated. I personally have no idea what it is but wish you and TARR the very best
