Does Oliver's upper lip look weird to anyone else???

Okay, so I was training with Ollie this evening, and I thought his upper lip looked like it was raw or bleeding or something. I tried to get him to sit still enough that I could look at it. But that didn't work. So then I thought maybe if I could get a picture that I wouldn't have to hold him still long enough to examine it. Well that sort of worked... although things never look exactly the same in pics as they do in real life... but tell me what you think

I know it looks like I'm strangling him in this pic, but I'm really not... just trying to get him to hold his head still.

It does look sort of red and a bit raw. Has he been snooting around in the snow? Or are you one of the lucky ones that doesn't have snow?

Can dogs get chapped, dry, irritated winter lips?

it's not exactly a case of dry chapped lips, it's more like it's worn down by the snow if it gets hard and sometimes crusty. Keep your eye on it though, it could be the start of something else.

I do see it's red, and raw looking sure it's from something he's rubbing against too much poor pups. I thought of chapped lips too for dogs, and why not they can get dry skin to. Even with that rawness look adorable puppers!

My first thought was , Do dogs have lips?

You can always put some Neosporin on it if you want to at least clean it up a bit. However I don't think you can hold down the tongue which would immediately want to investigate .

No change... and in real life, it actually looks raw-er than in the picture.Plus I've noticed him licking his lips a lot. I don't know if he's licking them more than normal or if I'm just noticing it because I know that his lips look red and raw.

I would maybe rub a little vasoline on the lips, they look dry and most likely from crusty snow he is eating or playing at. Or, even hard muddy land can do this if dogs like to dig and eat dirt.
