Can anyone help me on this?

Alright my dog and I went to a park that wraps around a lake. We walked the whole thing and my dog was fine. He didn't eat anything or come that close to any dog. As soon as we drove off about a couple of minutes he starts drooling all this clear mucusy stuff. He wasn't throwing it up it just kept coming out his mouth. It wasn't foamy...just really clear and slimy. My whole coat was wet when I got home. He's fast asleep now but do you think he could of gotten car sick? When searching on it and others but nothing turned up. Hope anyone can shed a little light on the subject and I am worried. My dog is a 4 month old beagle going on 5 the first week of January and has all his shots. Any help would be grateful. Thanks...!!

OK...you think that he didn't get into anything that would potentially cause a problem. He rode with you, in the car to the site, and was drooling on your way back?

Has he shown the same behavior, exhibited the same symptoms since??

I don't have the answers for you, other than IF this is continuing...then please see your vet. If he seems fine now, you may want to take him for short to longer rides in the car, to see if this becomes more obvious.

I had a dog do the same thing. he happened to go sniff out a toad and drooled for several hours as you describe. Another dog did the same thing, only this time it was a snake that hissed and shot venom(non poisonous)
at his face. And the same dog went after a porcupine and got a snoot full of quills. Being far from home I had to pull them out one by one with my fingers, he drooled for a whole week, we had to keep him in the entrance with the floor covered with sheets.

Sounds like either toad encounter (although the drooling would have started as soon as he met the toad, and you probably would have noticed) or more likely car sickness. They tend to grow out of being car sick, but where in the car is he riding? He should be in a crate or seatbelt for safetly, and it may help him feel more secure.

It didn't happen till we got down the road a ways. It was nothing I ever encountered with him before. Before we entered the car though I did hand him a dog biscuit treat for doing such a good job makin it all the way around because it was his first time. It stretches almost 2 miles. We usually walk around my neighborhood for a mile. He was riding in the front seat with the safety belt. That is why I wasn't sure if it was car sickness sypmtoms because I would be sure he would be vomiting instead but that wasn't the case so I thought it could be something else. The problem hasn't pursisted and after he woke up from his nap of a hour he was up and runnin around again. He pretty much stopped the drooling/spitting up incident when we got home.

That's good that he's in a seat belt. Chances are he was tired from the walk being longer and was just too tired to bother swallowing his drool Does he normally sleep in the car? But often when dogs get car sick or motion sick they do just look like drooling zombies without actually throwing up. Sounds like it was just a combination of things!
