The Dalmation rescue that I volunteer at got food donated from a person & it made all the dogs sick. I don't know what kind it was. Why is it making them sick?

Sick how? Is it possibly contaiminated? Was it left over food because their own pets passed away from something contagious? Could it be poisioned?

Too many questions. The rescue society might want to get it tested or get one of the dogs tested to see what is wrong.

This happens when food is changed. I would compare ingredients in the new food to what the dogs are used to eatign. Even a slight change could be causing the "runs". But, since it's all the dogs gettign sick, it may be more than that. I think the best-bet is to stop feedign them that food. have they been vet checked since they have been getting sick??

Since it's all the dogs and both stomach and runs, I would toss the dog food ASAP. Rescue dogs that have been there a while usually get a variety of food often so build up more of a tolerance to change.

If they don't go back to normal within 48 hours, I would definately pick the sickest one to go to the vet's asap for test including costly blood work. I just don't trust people anymore - hopefully your good samaritan is exactly that.

Having the desire to rescue any breed is a good thing. What they need now is some corporate sponsorship and some donations. Here are some things I would try.

1. A letter to Walt Disney corporation. Since the 100+1 damination movies there have been a lot more daminations breed and then left on rescue agencies doorsteps. A nice letter, email etc. asking for a small corporate donation. $500 is nothing for them but could make a world of difference to you.

2. Call local pet stores like petsmart and ask them if you could set up a table in their shop on a saturday or sunday. Ask for donations, give out your number if anyone is interested in adopting, etc.

3. Contact some local vet clinics to see if you can post pictures in their offices for those dogs available for donation with a small $50.00 fee. Here the SPCA charges around $175.00 to adopt a dog.

4. Contact local fire departments & a local photographer and see they are would like to rent a dalmantion for pictures, etc.

I'm sure others on this forum and also come up with more ideas.

Pittie Gurl, I feel so terrible for you and your dogs, it is just awful, you must feel like bashing your head against a wall somedays (excuse the expression). You know what I mean.
Try contacting your local paper, ask them to do a write up on the shelter, the good work you do, etc, and where donations can be made. Lucky your vet is on your side, see if you can put a tin on his counter.
Do you have a local radio station, contact them aswell.
Do you have a local organization that runs raffles etc. then donates the money to worthy charity groups, you could contact them.
Contact your local primary school, shops etc, letting them know you are there goes a long way in possible adoptions.

That is fantastic, keep going, you are doing a great job. The dogs will love you.
The more the public are aware of you, the more support you will receive, there are plenty of good people out there, you just need to find them.
Even putting an add in your paper for donations for another garage sale is a great way to obtain goods.

Keep up the good work, my heart goes to you and the dogs. .

That's a good start. See about writing Disney though -- they started a lot of problems with the movies because everyone wanted a dalmation without realizing what a high energy dog they are.
