Help for Daisy

HI if anyone is on line right now I need help. Daisy must have eaten a bug or spider or something that bit her. Her little snout is swollen badly on one side and she is so listless. She just wants to sleep. I gave her a few grains of a human antihistamine in some peanut butter. She is breathing OK but is just so listless. Does anyone have any suggestions. She won't sip water. I tried getting her to lick an ice cube but she isn't interested. She is only about 9 pounds so I didn't want to give her too much of the antihistamine. I am really panicking. Help please with suggestions. Thanks

You need to go to a vet or ring one. Some stings and bites can cause such reactions as to restrict respiration.
Contact one asap.

How long ago did it happen? Is she improving? Is the swelling continuing? Have you taken her temperture? I agree that you should ring a vet, tell them all the information and get their advice.

Yes, a bite on the mouth is serious, on the pads not as bad.
It can cause acute swelling and restrict breathing. Place a cold compress on it in the meantime.
Some dogs are more alergic than others. I would say it is a bee or wasp sting.

Thank You everyone

Daisy is showing great improvement. I discovered her swelling about 1 1/2 hours ago. I just assumed she was bitten by something when she went outside for her pee. I crushed the antihistamine and fed a few grains of it to her with peanut butter. We kept her awake and I gave her licks of peanut butter to be sure she could swallow and that was fine. She wasn't interested in water so I am giving her diluted milk and she is drinking it and loving it. She is much livlier and is even looking for crumbs on the floor - I think we made it. Again thank you all so much for the help.

Phew!!! O.k. but keep an eye on it, if the swelling increases or spreads, or you notice laboured breathing you will need to see a vet.
Also other symptoms may appear... diarrohea, vomiting, lumps appearing all over body.
Just keep an eye on her.
Keep us updated please.

Oh! She is just gorgeous. Keeping us updated is a must. Better or Worse. O.K. I want to know.
It will happen within 12 hours or so if she is gonna go backwards.

Daisy looks beautiful. Keep and eye on her - I had a close shave with Poppy last week. But as Dax said to me, I'm sure you'll know if she has even so much as a hiccup. Glad she appears to be OK.
