Question Minature Poodle

We have a 2 year old apricot poodle, he has been seen by a vet, had anti biotics, but still has a problem, can anyone help. Nearly every other day, he brings up bile, he is fine once this occurs, but the vet cannot suggest anything at the moment, we have proved it is not his diet that is causing it, it makes him really sad, and he will not eat anything if it is going to occur, he waits until it happens then he will eat his food. Also his tummy will rumble when this is happening. I am wondering if it could be his pancreas, gall bladder or bile duct, I really have no idea, can anyone suggest I would be most grateful for any comments

Thankyou

Is there another vet you can take him to for a second opinion?
What did the vet say was the problem when he gave antibiotics?

I possible I would get a second opinion. What was your vet's diagnosis? Does he bring up bile after he eats and runs around or just when he is idle?

I have a min poodle also (2 of them). It sounds like your boy is bringing up acid. Ask your Vet to prescribe you some anti-acid medication and see if this helps. Also ask your Vet can s/he perform a test where he inserts a camera into your Dogs throat to look at his tummy and surrounding area. This will show up anything from acid to hernia. I hope hes better soon x

Worried

Thanks for the ideas, today he has a rumbling tummy, yesterday I fed him only fresh chicken and rice, so there should be no reason for him to be upset today, as he didn't have any other food yesterday. He wakes up with this problem, and until he is either sick or it passes he likes to curl up and have a cuddle. I also wondered if it had anything to with a build up of acid in his tummy, I did think of giving him a mild dose of Gaviscon. The vet gave him anti biotics for an infection that he said he had after taking a urine sample, but he doesn't seem to be concerned about this problem. It was about once or twice a week originally, but now it seems to be every day. After the holidays I am going to ask for him to be investigated, he is insured so it is no problem, but as I said the vet feels there is nothing to worry about, he has just been for a nice long walk, is looking for his food, but I gave him a little chicken to see if he could eat it, he smelt it but didn't attempt to eat it, his tummy is still rumbling. This site is totally new to me, I have no idea what I am supposed to do with the title etc, so any suggestions welcome. Thanks for trying to help, most appreciated.

Not sure if this will help...

I have a female Doberman who would get a rumbly stomach, and you could see it in her eyes she didn't feel well. I talked to my vet about it, and he called it "something", I cant remember.
Basically I had to give her "bed time snacks" It was due to her stomach being empty.
It was as simple as a piece of toast with some peanut butter on it.
Not sure that will help, but I am just thinking about the empty stomach he may have.

That's the only thing the vet did suggest, that he has something to eat late at night. I have been trying this the last few days, toast with salmon paste on it, which he has ate, but it doesn't stop the same thing happening the next day. At the moment he is flat on on the sofa looking sorry for himself, with his tummy rumbling, I have just cooked scrambled egg and am trying to handfeed him, he is dying to eat it, but he is afraid, you can see it in his eyes, I have left it down now and hopefully this will pass and he will be fine later, it is such a worry, thanks for your suggestion anyway.

did you have an X-ray done on your boy? I did when my ACD was having GI issues and he would throw up bile with small flecks of blood in it due to Gastritis. Since I now have stopped rawhide and no longer feed regular kibble and started feeding him NB venison and brown rice he has stopped with everything. My vet suggested a 10 mg tab of antacid (pepcid). I would definately get a second opinion and take a look at his diet. He may have a sensitive stomach due to food allergies as my boy did. Good Luck!
