Smile A Shining Star

Star has been crated ever since the surgery so on Christmas day I let her out to be with everyone. She was like a wild child...checking everything out, but if I told her to settle she would sit down..tail wagging. She followed me everywhere and if I were to sit down she was right there with me. Of course begging for tidbits of cheese.

Yesterday she was out for awhile and she jumped into the bathtub and looked at me as if to say " When do I get my bath?" The scar on her shoulder that is almost covered up by her new fur. It will be 2 months (Jan. 7th) since she had her surgery and I will have to call the surgeon to give him an update. I know she will not be running free anytime soon and she will still have to be watched on jumping down off of things. I'll have to find out from him what her rehab will be.

She had shoulder surgery back in November. Her left shoulder either didn't develop right or had gotten hurt when she was young causing a chip in her shoulder. She wasn't limping much until one day she couldn't walk on it and it turned out the muscle tore off and had to be surgically reattached.

Yes, she is a German Shorthaired Pointer. Before she had gotten hurt I was training her for bird hunting. Even though I haven't hunted in years and don't plan to...I wanted to train her for what she does naturally. Now I haven't seen a partridge all year, until the past 2 months. There has been 6 of them in the yard everyday, all day.

I have been bad and taken Star out on a leash with Angel showing her the proper way to stalk. A couple times I have taken her out alone and that little girl pointed out those birds. She even found one that was high in a tree that I didn't see until it flew off. I was so proud of her. An people say unless they are from strict hunt backgrounds they can't hunt...
