I know this is a DOG forum, but....

I'm having a personally tough time with myself for doing this, but I think it's the only solution. Hopefully I'm doing the right thing & if anyone on here at PDG knows of a shut-in, elderly or other appropriate home for our Whiskey, I would be willing to transport or pay to transport in order to get the best possible home for her. She just came back this morning after a three week absence & I'm trying to get her adopted out before she escapes again. Wish me luck!

Unhappy Kitty Wanting New Home...

Whiskey is a spayed, UTD on shots, house-trained, approx. 10 year old, orange, short-hair tabby cat that is very unhappy in our home. She's a rescue from Whiskey Creek Bar & Grill parking lot (hence her name) & we've had her four years. She would prefer a home where she is the only pet & has a solitary human or adult couple from which she can hog attention from. She's very independent & is not fond of children or other animals. I have a 5 yr. old son who is very good with animals but she has never warmed up to him, two other litter-mate kittens & a mini Aussie puppy. The kittens & puppy respect her & don't bother her at all but she doesn't care! She's got her nose bent & it appears it's staying that way! Anyways, she appeared to be adapting fairly well & at least starting to tolerate the new furbabies but then when Fall hit, she disappeared for three weeks, came back for a day or two to fill up on food then she was gone again. This has happened several times since October. This is new behavior, she's never disappeared before & she's starting to get thin & I worry about the coyotes & raccoons in the area. I know she's not happy & would like to see her in the right home. Please let me know if you can help! You can contact me via the email address provided for this ad. Serious inquiries only, please!

BTW, the photos are two years old but she still looks the same, albeit a little thinner.

Without trying to sound rude or nasty, why cant you keep the cat indoors so he doesnt go walk-a-bout? That way you wouldnt have to worry about any harm coming of him.

Having said that, I do hope you find him his purrfect home. A senior cat should be able to enjoy his retirement years

No, I understand...that's why I'm having a tough time with this myself. I feel like a failure. It's just that when I put a kitty litter box out...the other two make a huge mess of it & Molly sneaks "treats" from it. We have a really small house & my 5 yr. old son doesn't always remember to shut the bathroom or outside doors. Also, I'm a single working mother & don't have a lot of time to devote to door & kitty litter patrol. She also bolts out the door the first chance she gets when she's had her fill of the house. She is much happier when the house is quiet (i.e. no kid, cats & puppy are outside), which doesn't happen very often. I just don't like seeing her so unhappy & I worry about her when she's gone. I just figured if I could find her a more appropriate home for her...all the better. Thank you for your concern & comments, I really do appreciate them.

I can understand all of that. Its not easy to try to do everything on your own. Once again I wish you luck in rehoming her.

Beautiful cat! If I could I would want her!
I can understand where you are coming from with finding her a new home. Our cat is also an indoor cat, and she uses EVERY opportunity to run outside. We are lucky that she has only gotten out a few times and didn't know what the heck to do, so she just hung around by the door. When my brother was younger we were constantly chewing him out for leaving doors open.
Anyway, I hope you find an awesome home for her!

I see you can relate! I'm constantly hollering at my boy to "SHUT THE DOOR!!!!" Whiskey has always been an indoor/outdoor cat with us because that is what she likes but she is litter box trained.

BTW, great profile pics & avatar you got goin' on there!

She is a pretty kitty, don't think I know anybody that fits the description for her.

Ok, so far you wouldn't believe the responses I've gotten for her off of Craigslist.com! Some guy from Texas wants to pay me $1,500 for my Whiskey kitty?!?!? If he has that much $$$, why doesn't he just go buy some fancy purebred kitty?

ALL of the responses I have gotten are across the country or in another country all together! Why would you want to adopt a cat from across the country? Don't they have shelters where they live to adopt a cat from? It just seems silly (or fishy) to me.

I just respond with, "Thank you for your inquiry however, I'm interested in rehoming my pet locally. Good luck with finding a pet to give a forever home to."

Yeah those are the scammers. Most likely they'd offer a cashiers check for over the amount. And you graciously refund the amount it's over. Of course the cashiers check is fake and you've just given them good money.

Stick with your reply. And good luck.. btw I did post it on the cat forum.
