Dakota in doggy hospital. UPDATE, home.

Well, Dakota is in the doggy hospital thanks to an idiot "friend" of ours who pushed her down the stairs to an RV trailer that another friend has.

We went over to a friends last night for dinner. He's staying in his trailer here on the weekends and he lives up in the desert during the week. We went over and then came the other guy and his kids. He walked in and his son was about to come up the stairs. Dakota came up and he told her no and pushed her down. She tripped and got her foot caught.

She ripped the nail out. Poor girl was in so much pain. She's having it removed now and will we ready to be picked up in a couple hours.

Poor sweetheart. I hope the "friend" is at least paying for the surgery. What a terrible way to start 2007.

I'm sure he will. We have insurance on Dakota, so that's not the big issue. It will still cost us a bit, but not as much as it would if we didn't have it. The issue is that she shouldn't have gotten hurt in the first place. If it had been an accident, fine. But it wasn't.

I am so mad! He could have just told her no, she listens! And to make matters worse, because she was hurt, she came in the trailer while we ate anyway. We had it all cleaned out and wrapped and got her to the vet first thing this morning. Jake is so upset that they are making her stay till later. As long as everything gets cleaned and removed and she's okay, though. Poor girl was terrified to watch us leave her.

It's okay though. I would rather her be scared now then suffering later. I just can't believe that this happened. She's going to need to off her feet for a long while and we're 500 bucks poorer. Thank goodness for Pet Insurance. Just wish they paid up front.

Do you know how hard it is to entertain a 2yr old VERY active shepherd that can't be on her feet? OMG, this is going to be rough. If she's been resting for an hour she gets bored. Let alone several days!

That sucks big time!!! Hope Dakota is ok. Pet insurance or not - the "friend" should pay - perhaps monitary loss will teach him how to treat animals - especially well behaved ones. I am so mad for you!!
