Scotie, is there a reason you can't write to the manufacturer?

Can you give us more details? What tablet, etc?

I'm sorry to hear about your friend.. I know you must be terribly upset. If nothing else, we'll help however we can!

Welcome to the forum!

Can you go to another vet? Maybe another vet would be more willing to help you out or know of another treatment to try out.

If the tablet works so effectively to control the tumour, then the only reasons I could see for it's discontinuation would be either the demand for it is no longer there or it is to be superseeded by an improved formula.

Don't give up so easily, I would research, find out a little bit more on why it is discontinued. Sometimes a vet will not stock it anymore, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is no longer available.
As suggested put the name of the pill here, and the manufacturer, there are many that can help look into it for you.

Don't despair just yet. Although a manufacturer may discontinue a certain product does not mean that it is off the market. Find out what the ingredients of the product were and see if another manufacturer produces a similar drug. They might have discontinued because a competitor undercut them.

Check to see if the drug is avilable in neighboring countries and whether you can obtain it from there.

Also, don't limit yourself to veterinary drugs. Last time I checked, humans were still taking drugs to fight cancer and I would guess that the drug you are looking for is manufactured by someone for human use and hopefull at a reasonable price. Get that drug and adjust the dosage accordingly.

Call me crazy, but everything I can pull up on the Feldene says that it's part of the NSAID family, which is an anti-inflammatory for use in rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis. Not indicated for oncology. Which makes me wonder what the vet was thinking? Other medications in this same family include - aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, etc.

It is part of the NSAID family but this particular drug has been shown to slow the growth of some cancers in dogs. DO NOT give your dog any of the other drugs for humans in this category - my dog accidently got hold of some last week (naproxen) and it could have caused her serious damage if not caught in time.

I will see what further info I can find out for you.

I have found contact details for Pfizer in the UK - I would be happy to contact them for you if you don't feel up to doing it yourself. I would need to know what dosage when I ring them, just so I have the information to hand.
