Unhappy Terrible Itching After Shaving

Our 2 yr old *****n was shaved due to excessive matting, so we were told.
For 3 days now poor Oliver , who had his neuter surgery area also shaved ,
has been almost inflamed and itching in the surgery area. Plus, there are 2 tiny specs where he was nicked with the shaver. I don't know how he sleeps with all this itching. The hair all over his stomach was thin and straight; there wasn't any matting underneath him but she shaved all his tummy hair too. Plus, we were told he has 2 ear infections. There is No redness at all and his ears don't itch. This was done at the Pet Salon.
Now Oliver looks like a white rat; not the same dog. And he is definitely uncomfortable following this barbaric shaving. I feel so sorry for him.

Try rubbing baby powder or a moisterizing lotion on him. This should help soften the skin and not make it so itchy. I use lotion on one of my dogs when she gets allergies and it seems to help a bit.

Prodog has an ideal product for thisl

Looks like it would be the ticket for this and future outbreaks.

Oh, also I would suggest finding a new groomer. No groomer should shave a dog without an owners permission no matter how bad the matting. I wouldn't trust them about an ear infection but perhaps you should have that checked by a vet to see for sure.

Ditto what heartsong says about the ear infection and not going back to that groomer.

thank you! I rubbed Udder Cream onto his tummy; he didn't seem to mind until I touched his operation. I wonder if they infected the surgery site. It sure is dark pink, the poor thing. Maybe she nicked it, too. Suzy

How long ago was he neutered? If it looks red and swollen or worse-wet, go to your vet. Especially true in neutered in last week to 10 days.

HI, He was neutered 9 mos ago. It Might be a little swollen but this only happened after he was shaven 3 days ago. He has slept since I applied the Udder Cream; I think it helped! thanks!

9 months and it's just swollen now? It probably has nothing to do with the operation then... just nicks. Remember to brush him every day so he wont have to be shaved again.
