Another Do Not Adopt - crossposted

I got this in my inbox today....how do these people live with themselves?

Date: 1/12/2007

Do not adopt to:
Carrie Weishaupt,Oceanside, CA
( I have the address and phone number if any rescue orgs need it)

She adopted a beautiful, sweet puppy female Akita named Roxy. Over & over again, I explained that Roxy was going to have high anxiety from her change of home and that she must keep her with her for the first 2 weeks at all times. Carrie works out of her house and said she would be with her and understood that this dog would be afraid & anxious and she could & would do so. This was a highly intelligent and and intense puppy. I re-enforced that she would need this extra care over and over. She picked her up on Thursday night.

On Sunday night, she called and said she wanted to return her to me and get another breed of dog that was a "better fit". I made arrangements to get my dog Monday morning.

Carrie proceeded to get up Monday AM, go into a place for 15 minutes and tied Roxy to a tree right off the freeway. Roxy chewed through her leash, ran onto the freeway in sheer terror and what was left of her was not even recognizable. It was her. She still had my tag on her.

Carrie did not call me for 5 hours to even tell me the dog was gone. She is still looking for a "better fit" dog. Do not adopt!

I myself am utterly appalled at what humans are capable of in their blackest of souls. This world is so full of evil souls. They will all be judged. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

I am speechless, not amazed or surprised sadly, but speechless. It saddens me that there are so many animals out there that need quality homes and so very, very few quality homes. But neuter/spaying isn't done and ACCIDENTS happen (huh, poo) and then the animal suffer greatly. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

That poor baby, just because a human could not think. They wanted something so they went in and got it, wouldn't want to wait until the dog was safely confined. Instant gratification, hope the idiot enjoyed what they went in to get.

I am so sorry that this happened, sadly though, it will not be the last.

Holy ****. Oceanside is right next door to me. I could walk into the city in about 15 minutes. Oh that just makes it even harder. That poor baby. Better forward this one to all the rescues around.

Stories like this just reconfirm my idea that there should be a certification class that people should take before being allowed to have a pet (this includes children, too)!

I am so sorry to hear this.

Oh, you know how your heart just wrenches when you here this happening, but when it happens to your favorite breed that you have been just dying to adopt...it's like it was your child that could have been! I was crying after reading this post...please lock this lady up in one of your crates and make her stay there until all the animals are adopted!!!

Angry

I am so sorry to hear that it is awful what some people do to animals. I am so sorry you had such a bad expirience and the worst part is they are everywhere.
