Unhappy Abnormally scared puppy behavior

I just got a pitbull that is aprox. 6-10 weeks old I am not sure of his age due to not fully trusting the previous owners we have found several inconsistencies by his behavior. I know that he is little but he seems alot more timid than other puppies I have ever had in the past. I dont know if his previous owners were mean verbally or physically with him but he is always in a scared state of mind and I cant figure out why. At first I contributed it to him being in a new enviroment but I think that would have passed by now. What can I do to help him adjust or do you have any ideas how we can overcome this obstacle. He gets along great with our 1 year old pit when they play is the only time he seems to get in a calm state of mind. He also will eat until he is sick so I feed him the proper amount but he will continuosly go to the kitchen and beg and hunt for more food, I dont know if this is due to being in an unstable mind set. I cant figure this one out, Please help us so we can be the best owners possible to him. Thank You

My Maddy is exactly like this she has temperment issues. At eight months old she has worsened instead of better. She will not tolerate strangers. She is constantly hunting food like she is starved. She will now go after other pets in home after as pup playing with them well. I was told she had been beaten at first home and recovered by breeder but she is unafraid of strangers or hands she leans toa gressive high protection and civil drive instead. I would get a specialty trainer. Someone who is a ert Master trainer not a trainer that has had a quicky course or a person that says they are a trainer but has no formal training.
