Wink

I'm sorry but I can't give you any information for this particular subject. You should consult your vet for tips.

It's not hard...but how good do you want your dog too look is more the question! Other questions to ask are what is the disposition/temperament of your dog? Will the dog stand still and be calm for a prolong period of time? Do you have all the proper equipment? Do you want to go to this expense? Do you have enough time to do the job without being rushed? This is when the 'trouble' starts. What type of 'hair cut' are you planning? The entire body or just parts of it? How often? It seems like a lot of work to me...personally I would leave it to a professional! Good Luck!

Yes, look around for a professional clipper, I think you'll find there are many around your area, there always are at least one. Tell us how it's going. And thankyou Lucky Puppy for the information.

If you want to clip a dog's hair, do clip it when he is young. This will prevent your dog getting frightened to the clipper's noise. Try to get a professional to do that.

Good luck!

I clipp my dog's hair in summer. I started it when he was 1 year old.
I had the professional clipper come to my house to do it once in May , then I will trim it myself once a month until August. He is fine with it, but do get impatient after an hour. If this is the first time your dog has hair clip, I would suggested to have the professional clipper go to your place, it will make the dog feel safer. And you can calm him with some treats.

My dog is long hair, it's very fine and hard to work with. We go to the groomers to get him shaved down to 1 1/2 - 2 inches every 3 months or so. But, we have to be careful because since he only has a single coat and very fine fur, he can sunburn. Other times, I trim the fur on his paws, and face myself, given that he stays still for me.
