Where do dogs go after they are Euthenized?
This is not a spiritual questions it's a literal one. The other day I heard some disgusting news in the way one of my old pets died and was disposed of (I cried hard from this) and was wondering, what happens to the dogs' bodies after they are euthenized at the vets? I believe that all creatures should be shown dignity and respect even after they have passed on and would really like to know if they are treated that way after they are put to sleep at the vets. Thanks.

I don't know, I've had mine cremated and plan to scatter the ashes with me when I go.

It is usually up to the owner what they want to have done (with charges varying based on what they choose). They have caskets specially designed for dogs, or you can have them cremated and keep their ashes. Otherwise, their bodies will be frozen and then picked up by a company that cremates them in mass and disposes of the ashes. Though I don't know what they do with the ashes as I haven't worked on that end before.

See I think I would go with cremating them or something myself but I was only 13ish when my first dog passed away and probably 14 when my bird died (shutter) so I had no choice in what happened.

With our two pets who we had pts years ago, a cat and a dog, both were cremated and live in urns in our lounge room. I dont know about anyone elses pets.

Our very first cat was euthanized at our vets, we asked what the options were. Either cremation or our vet could bury the body on his property. We opted to have our vet bury Cottons body on his property. Since that time, we have had 2 dogs that have passed away & had them cremated. There ashes are in our curio cabinet right now, but will be spread with our ashes when we pass.
Years after our cat died I got the courage to ask where he was buried. It was then I learned the vet that has the property dug a mass grave & buried all of the animals there. Needless to say I was in shock. If I had known that at the time I never would have asked for Cotton to be buried by him. |

Mine are in urns here at the house. I have seen a few wild things in the past few months.
I heard of a celebrity that has some of her dog's ashes in a little vial around her neck. Then there was a tv show where the woman wanted the breast implants she was going to be getting to be partially filled with her dogs ashes. I can't remember the show to know if this was a real show or some series like Nip/Tuck. |

another option is to have the ashes made into jewelry for you to wear. they can make a diamond out of them. (they do this for human ashes as well).

If you opt to have the vet dispose of them yes they are generally stored in a freezer and then picked up in mass and cremated.
As horrible as it sounds, they have already left the body. If I had urns for all my animals I would already have over 10 and currently have 10 animals in my home not to count the ones in the future. I always joke(if you really want to call it that) that when I finally reach the bridge and all my animals come to greet me, the bridge will probably break from the number of animals. Yes I have been fortunate enough to grow up with numerous animals and now my son has the luxury to do it now. |

I believe that when the person/dog/fill in the blank.....their soul leave their body and goes to the place they deserve to be. In cases of dogs I believe this to be heaven, or Rainbow Bridge.
