sleepy dog

My dog is 12 years old. his health is good, but I think he sleeps to much. I would say he is up about 4 hours a day. do they sleep this much when they are older?

Yes, older dogs spend most of thier days sleeping or resting. It's normal. They also take longer to recover from any physical activity. At 12 years of age, your dog is a senior citizen.

Yes a 12 yo will sleep a lot. Dogs tend to sleep more in the winter too when it is cold. I wish I could stay under the nice warm blankets

I have assumed that your dog is otherwise healthy and has regular vet check ups.

I would be worried if it was a sudden on set of lethargy. Dax is only really active for about 3 hours a day (walks) and rests on her bed most of the time.
