Not moving/stroke/death
I have a 12 year old half German shepherd, half collie, dog named Zoe. About a week ago she was limping horribly and we just thought her arthritis was kicking in, and soon stopped so now we're thinking it was a stroke. Last night she was going a little nuts. She didn't really know where she was going, sort of a lost of balance. She kinda just went around the house oddly. This morning she woke up my mother and she let her outside. Zoe quickly went over to the spot where she usually goes and layed down. She didnt move at all, didnt even move from that spot. only lifting her head up. We petted her and we thought its gonna be the end for her soon. since it was so cold outside, we brought her inside and layed her on blankets. She hasn't moved since then and that was hours ago. She also through up once. My father who is a nurse said she probably had a stroke, thats why she isn't moving. She's not going to sleep like she usually does. shes getting gradually colder and a lil stinky breath which might b from the ****. She recognizes us and well we're just scared. We're wondering if we really should bring her into the vet if it something with her bowels or maybe it is just her heart giving in. or even some suggestions would b nice. we're not really looking at putting her down because it doesn't seem like she is in pain at all. If it gets worse maybe then we will consider it. Thank you for your time.

I would take her to the vet to see what they say. If she cant move or walk it may be a stroke. And sadly I think the best thing would to put her down. It is very hard, I know having put down 3 dogs myself (and many other small critters).

I agree take her to the vet to see what is wrong. Maybe they can fix it? Who knows. But at least you will know exactly what is going on and what to expect. Then you can make a better informed decision from there.

I would take her to the vet. It will give you and your family peace of mind as far as what is wrong, what can be done and whether she is truly in pain or experiencing discomfort. It is very hard to have to put a loving pet (family member) to sleep but trust me, it is far harder watching them struggle on thier own if things go down hill. You can call your vet and ask thier advise, that would probably be best
My thoughts are with you & your family. Sounds like she is well loved and has had a good life!

I agree with everyone that the vet is the only one that can give you the answers in a case like this. I hope there is something they can do. Hugs, Minnie
