UTI/Bladder infections
I'm pretty sure Chip has a bladder infection (she's been going out every hour and peeing three or four times), but the vet isn't open today since it's Sunday. Is there anything I can do to help her out a little bit until we can get over to the vet tomorrow to get some antibiotics for her? Are there any foods or other things that will help cut down on the peeing?

You can try to monitor the intake of water. Usually UTI's are accompanied by lots of water, although.. you take away the water and it's less urine, but she may still have the same urgency to go.
There's not much that i can think of or know of for UTI's for dogs.. i know humans can do cranberry juice! Ha ha. |

You may want to be sure she doesn't have kidney stones also. My girlfriends dog was urinating all the time and she was diagnosed with stones.

Poor gal, make sure you can get her into the vet tomorrow. Is she straining to pee and/or is there blood in it? Sometimes crystals form in the urinary tract and make it very painful to go potty and cause blood in the urine.

There is a dog food made by Science Diet (Yes, SD, yuck I know!) for dogs with UTIs, and It really does seem to make a differnce.

Either way, you're going to need to wait till the vet checks her out. Depending on the diagnosis, there are some home remedies you can try that have been suggested, but your best bet will be the antibiotics. Many vets will just try the medication first and will then change to the food if it returns or is persistent. If so, you will likely be asked to put her on the Science Diet prescription which is not a very good food ingredient wise but I don't know of another at this time that helps with this. And also a word of caution, this food is very high in calories and can cause your pet to put on a ton of weight. My parents have to feed this to their shi tzu and have cut it down to 1/2 dry kibble and then some chicken and yogurt and their pup has done great!

Thanks for all of the suggestions
She went to the vet first thing Monday morning and she did have a UTI. She's been on antibiotics since then and she seems completely fine as of right now. She hasn't had any blood in her pee and she doesn't need to go as often as she did. The antibiotics make her stomach a little bit upset, though, but nothing major.
