Sunny is still here... senior rescues

Well, Sunny, my happy Corgi mix is still here.

She is a wonderful dog, I have been working with her in obedience, she is now good in a crate, gets along with all the animals (ok, I have to watch her around my other female dog, but only when toys/food is involved.)
She is trustworthy offleash, my 6 yr. old niece plays with her, I can take a bone from her mouth... all in all she's a GREAT dog... so why won't anyone even look at her...

Because she's an older dog It's so sad, she would make someone a WONDERFUL pet, she's not a hyper, and she's so grateful just to have a warm bed at night.

I have had a family look at her "She's nice but we really would like something younger..."
And I had an older woman look at her who wanted a low shed dog, she decided.

Alright, I'm off my soap box, thanks for listening.

A picture of her running with Uolie, so you can understand how big she is.

Because she's an older dog, and predominantly black. Both of those things play against her when it comes to browsers. She looks like a fabulous dog.

Good luck to you & her.

It is so sad when no one will give a senior the chance to join their family. I personally found rescuing seniors to my benefit....they were potty trained! Good luck on finding her a forever home. Does she know any tricks that she can show off when someone comes to see her?

Wow, I don't think its as much that she's "big" as it is, she's so big for those little legs . Black and old really don't get along, but I did have from bark magazine the web site of a "black dog" rescue, if ya give me a min I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: http://www.blackpearldogs.com/
Take a look around, it might have some good tips on how to get her adopted faster.

Poor girlie... at least she had you until she can find a permanent home!

I had no clue that there was any difference between black and lighter dogs as far as adoption goes. Even though we have lighter dogs (that's just the way it ended up) I've always liked black dogs best.

She looks like she'll be a real sweet girl for a family with younger children.

I'm just glad she is good dog and is doing well with the gang.

Thank you Welsh, for that link!!!

RB, black dogs do adopt out VERY slowly, and the last dogs to be adopted... large, black dogs.

Rottie,it's funny that you say that but you're right.
Take a barking golden and a black/tan hova who is just looking.Who will they want to pat even though she is barking,of course the golden.I actually have had to tell them that she doesn't want to be patted even though,it's clearly visible.
black dogs look more menacing.their teeth look whiter,in a black coat. They automatically think,he's more aggressive.
So sorry she is still her but I know what you mean.
PS:My second Hova Who is my Mom's dog,is the 1st black dog we ever had.
My stepdad didn/t like black dogs and would not allow them,in the house. When he died and I left for the USA,my mom got her cos the vet said ,the color would be a good deterrent from burglars(someone had tried to break in the house, just before,we left.

Yes! look at labradors, same breed, same temperment, people would rather approach a yellow lab then a black one!

I just don't get it! This is the 1st I've heard of this. I've always preferred black (and chocolate) labs over yellow labs based on the appearance!
