Question My baby has ear troubles.

I seem to be coming here quite often these days. Well here`s my next question: Nique has always had trouble with her ears and she continually shakes them so we were given a cream to put in ears when they seem to be bothering her. After time it seemed the cream was actually doing the reverse because it was building up in her ear and I would end up cleaning her ears out with the cream that was suppose to be helping her. Well now her ears seem to be quite dry and cracking so that she has small cuts in her ears. I`m wondering if I can put human Neosporin in her ears? Will it harm her in any way because I know some things that are helpful to humans can be deadly to our pets. Well thanks for reading.

Sounds like it may be time to take her into the vet. She may have an ear infection. I know if our golden has an ear infection we notice him shaking his head and itching his ears. Are the entrances to her ears pink or inflamed?

Hm... Well its really on one that is really bad. And yes it is inflamed. Very red. The thing is her ears have been this way before and we took her to the vet. The cream he gave us just seems to build up in her ear. But my question is : Is Nersporin ok to put on there?

I don't know honey. You do not know if the eardrum has ruptured so putting anything in it at this point is dangerous IMO. It sounds as if he has an ear infection and those can be very bad and can lead of a hematoma of the ear if he shakes his head. Our vet gives us ear drops and you do not put too much in. Also there is a product out there for cleaning the ears on a weekly basis that you can get from your vet. I am sorry I am no help to you, but I couldn't in good conscious tell you to put something in the ear without checking the condition of the eardrum with the vet first.

I agree with Bosley in that introducing anything yourself may cause more harm than good. From the sound of things, drops may have been more beneficial than the cream. I would take your dog into (perhaps, another vet) and get the problem properly treated.
Best Wishes,
EG
