It's Surgery for Reid

Well, turns out Reid has a cartilage flap forming on his shoulder, and that it's start to calcify which will cause long term pain and eventual arthritis. They call is ALC or OCD... my brain is just churning right now, so I can't remember what they stand for. My vet recommended me to a specialist, which I called and set up an consultation for Tuesday at 8:15am. The specialist, Dr. Cook will review Reid's x rays, blood work, and shoulder for himself, and decided if infact he does need surgery. Then Reid will have surgery that same day. My poor boy... my poor check book.

This is an operation that has a great success rate.
My father's working Border-Collie had it done,at the age of 2 and kept on working until he died,at the ripe age of 13.
When he got older,he would limp from time to time but not a lot.Your dog will have a greater life,if you do it,now, cos he is young and will bounce, right back.
When,he comes home, keep him, crated so that he stays calm.
I wish you the best of luck,if he does need the operation and please keep us posted.on the progress.L.

Okay, thanks again. I'm assuming Reid's surgery could be anywhere from $900 to $1500 according to my vet.

Rain, you'll be in my thoughts as will Reid! G&H's report of the surgery sounds very incouraging to me!!

Yeah G&H really raised my heart outta the ditch. I'm feeling much more secure about it than I was this morning after receiving the phone call from my vet.
