I dislike chows. Its really hard to pick likes and dislikes. I love just about every dog for one reason or another.

The one breed that I really, really, really dislike is the Maltese. Those monsters are terrible... Eyyyugh. There are a bunch others that I'm not too fond of, but Maltese on the top of that list.

I am not a fan of Akitas. I have met a few that have given a bad name to the breed. I am one to want an all around family dog, not just a one person dog.

hmmmmmm dislikes,dislikes,dislikes.hmmmmmmmm.Well,i would have to say,i don't like chows a whole lot,or hungarian puli's either.I don't like the little fluffy dogs a whole lot either like maltese and pekingese and lhasa apso's when it comes to looks, but i know i could luv them just as much as any dogs despite there looks, because i can't help but be a dog lover.

Any toy breed. A dog needs a PURPOSE other than sitting around being a yappy little lap-dog thing. If thats what you want get a cat, an oversized rat is not the answer! Also cannot stand westies or jack russells - those things are football shaped for a reason! Rhodesian Ridgebacks would also be on my list. Those things are just plain dangerous in the hands of anyone other than a professional trainer and i would like to see them added to the list of banned breeds in the UK.

lou3, I didn't know that about Ridgebacks. That seems to be the "in" dog here right now.

they are very very wary of strangers. To the extent that the loving family pet that was just playing with your toddler will fly out of the house to savage someone who happened to stop by the garden gate if not handled properly. I have seen a multitude of these dogs at the boarding kennels i used to work at - and not one of them could we trust enough to go in its kennel to feed and clean it out unless the dog was locked out the back in its run.

Ridgebacks are NOT dangerous, they are loving dogs that just need training, like any other dog.Specific breeds, need more training and socializing than others, and that is true about the rodesian ridgeback,BUT Don't judge a breed by something you heard about them from someone, and don't tell people they are dangerous like that, because of someone blabbing their mouth like that, families could get nervous, and get rid of a perfectly wonderful family pet.So i just caution you, that it is a very serious thing to classify a breed as dangerous, unless you know for sure that they are. Please be careful, because of someone blabbing their big mouth like that,i lost a wonderful friend,an incredible dog! you would hate to be the cause of the death of a wonderful dog!!!

jack russels are great little dogs too ,strong and muscle's,fast, and intelligent. They are great for someone who wants a tough little trooper but doesn't have the space for a big dog.

I WORK with dogs and every ridgeback that has passed through the kennels has been dangerously aggressive - so i'm pretty convinced thankyou.
