Dog Shedding Question

My dog is 11 months old. He is a Husky/Akita mix, short hair. Totally healthy.

Is it weird that he is shedding a little bit here at the end of November??

If you mean that he's not shedding very much, no, not too weird. Maybe he's growing his winter coat later. Both breeds are pretty heavy shedders.

Most dogs I have owned shed year round with a major molt in the spring. It is very normal and a great incentive to keep up on brushing him throughout the year. AS long as there aren't any bald patches or behavior issues, you shouldn't worry.

shedding

I was just wondering because I thought they grew another coat....which he is. they shed the old one etc.

I just though that the shedding back in June was for summer. I did not know they shed again a litttle bit around winter

For Dax she doesn't grow a replacement coat. She gets a layer of downy hair in addition to the black hairs that stay year round. When she sheds in the spring there are very few black hairs, it's mostly the down (white or off white) type.

My dogs do the same . As Dax said , if there are no other issues going on I wouldn't worry .

It's perfectly normal. My indoor Boxer sheds year around with not too much variation in regard to seasons. My outdoor Husky mix sheds all the time too. She has a lot of hair left, and she's perfectly healthy so I don't even think twice about it.

I have a lab mix and use the shedding blade. It works, since it removes the loose hair.

A shedding blade would work on any short hair.
