URGENT help PLEASE!!!

My 2 yr old dog has started to behave very strangely! I had taken her for a walk and now at home she is running around crazy, biting her paws and scratching them on the carpet, constant twitching, she cant sit still for a minute, darting about crazy! i have inspected her paws and there doesnt seem to be anything obvious causing this! PLEASE HELP, any ideas????

Sounds like she stepped in something. Where do you live Honeybee? If you are in the south the fireants are out in full blow...the only reason I know that is because my husband was playing golf yesterday and was attacked. Fire ants are the worst!

If she stepped in gasoline it can be absorbed by the pads. Salt on the streets also. Can you take her to the vet?

First thing I would do is wash them with cool clean water. Just put some water in the bath tub and stand her in it. It only needs to cover the top of her feet. If it is all four feet, it sounds like she walked thru something. Salt or ice melter.

If just one foot, I think she might have been biten by an insect.

If that cool water doesn't help, I would call your vet NOW before they weekend.

Let us know how it goes. The vets are closed there now? Do you have an ER vet?

unfortunately the water hasnt worked she is so stressed just now! I have had a better look at her paws and it appears to be her 2 back paws that are causing the problem, there is no obvious reason for this, but when i try to feel in between her pads she is obviously sore/uncomfortable, yet she is fine with her front paws, will let me feel them no problem. my hubby is on the phone with the emergency vet just now, so will keep you updated, thanks for all your help.
