First Heat! I think
Okay well I think spoon is going into her first heat! Her vulva is swollen and she seems to be licking it alot more! She has not started bleeding yet!
She is 9 months old so I think she is! NOt sure! My little baby is growing into a big girl! |

Sounds like heat to me too Midlife. My English Mastiff went into her first heat at 9 months old. Her vulva looked like a small hand bacg that was filled to capacity just hanging down there! Be very careful and very AWARE during this time in heat. Male dogs will do anything...jump a fence, did a hole just to get at her. When you take her outside stay with her at all times. It only takes a second for a male to smell a female in heat. Yes, she will bleed but you never know how much. I suggest throwing old sheets or old blankets over your furniture or maybe even getting those doggie diapers. I didn;t get them for my dog Uma because she would have never kept them on....plus I would have had to buy the econo size for her.....about 20.00 for maybe 10 or so diapers. Good luck and keep us posted.

Ya Well she stays inside all the time she is never around my male dog. She is only around my other female dog! I DO not plan on letting her get preggers! That is for sure she is too young! I will probably go get her some diapers! Looks like she will be taking a vacation away from her best buddy sysco!

Pull ups with a hole cut for the tail work well also. Just be sure to change whatever you use very often.
Also males can smell a female in heat from 2 miles away so be extremely aware of everything around when outside. I would also suggest keeping her inside for 4 weeks just to be very sure she is done. Remember some dogs stop bleeding when they are in standing heat and ready to breed. |

I know its not good!
I have been debating for a while on Spoon and she came out with a very good comformation. But if we breed her it will be when she is 2 yrs old I am going to get the hip tests and stuff done on her first. I have been looking at alot of studs but not finding the one I want Most that I find our short and stocky and I want something more towards conformation not color and the whol fab of BIG pitbulls. She is going to start training for agility in the next few weeks and then we are training for weight pulling I hav started late on the agility training but she is a fast learner |
