Sorry Golden...I just found your thread. Beneful is NOT a good food at all. My dogs were on that....even the vet recommended it...but a few months back some dogs died in Texas from eating Beneful. I don't know if it made the national news but it sure made the news here in Texas.

    I've been thinking...

There is one very simple solution for all of this....

    Go all RAW!!!!

You KNOW what you give your dog, you know it's not contaminated by any bacteria... Has it's raw meat, you know the quality of the food your giving...

    Think about it.... I've been!!!

Yes Beneful's first main ingredient is CORN which is NOT good for any dog. Also they use meat by products. I am so wary about feeding my dogs any type of dog food now that I am seriously thinking of switching to home made or organic food I feed my dogs Nutro Natural Choice puppy formula and even though that wasnt in the food recall list because its dry kibble, I am paranoid that it may get on that list soon.

Seriously? Your vet recommended it? I'd consider finding another vet... although, vets aren't known for knowing anything about nutrition... considering mine recommends Science Diet and Iams.

I agree Rain, most of the vet's I know reccomend some pretty low grade brands.

As for Beneful, it's not a brand I'd be feeding anyways. As it's been discussed though, many of those higher end brands could have been affected as well with all the mass production going on.

Raw/Barf would be the safest way, and I've been told the healthiest, but I just can't seem to wrap my head around it. I would have to get someone to make up the diet for me, but I probably would be willing to at least try with all of this dog food recall nonsense.
