Thyroid tumor

a neighbor has a sweet dog who's 10. she's a husky/shep/all american mutt mix.

the tumor on her thyroid is fairly advanced, and in a place that would make surgery very risky.

the owner has decided against surgery and chemo. the oncologist she went to gave the dog 4-6 months no treatment, and 6 months to a year with. she just doesn't want to put the dog through all that.

so, what she's looking for is advice on how to make the dog's last months comfortable. she's gone to 3 vets and none have been able to offer her much advice beyond treatment options.

does anyone here have anything to say that i can pass along to her?
