Porky will be castrated

Hi.. Next week, Porky will be castrated.

How will he react? I know he'll be sore.. but which things i need to take in consideration? any medications? how should i treat him?
I want him to be okay.

i know the dr. will tell me, but i am just too curious.. and i want to "help" him to have a less rough road...

When Kirby was neutered.... ages ago so it seems, there was nothing at all different about him.

He was a little groggy the first day and needed to wait out the initial medications. I was given some "optional use" doggy aspirin, but didn't use it. It's a little bit of a challenge to keep an active dog still enough to not wreck the stitches, so a lead during the day might be handy.

MyTrailDogGracie is on a distinguished road
Don't let him pick at his stitches is the only thing I can think of.
THANK YOU for getting him fixed

Keep an eye,on any potential redness or swelling cos it could be the beginning of an infection.Don't let him lick it or pull on the stitches.Keep him, calm.

The last dog I have had neutered was Baliey, my big male Bernese. The vet said "keep him calm" He came home like a giant moose, wanting to play and be goofy and do all the things he normally does. There was no difference.

As said above just keep an eye out for infections, and don't let him swim or play rough outside for a few days - a week

When I neutered one of my pups a while ago, there was no difference at all. He wanted to play, run, all his normal stuff. I had to keep him in his crate just to keep him from popping his stitches. Like everyone else has said, just make sure he leaves the stitches alone, and try to keep him as quiet as you can. Good luck! Kathy and Maia
