Usual amount of bleeding after being spayed?

I've finally got my dog spayed (for all of those who were giving me issues about her amount of puppies, not I'm not saying this with an attitude, just saying, here is your assurance that I'm taking care of her), but what is the usual amount of blood from the incision point? When we got her home, there was quite a bit of blood across her whole stomach. But she licked it off. I tried to put an E-collar on her, but she started clawing and scratching at it, and just freaking out, making for the cut to bleed quite a bit for a while. So she's not wearing it right now. I just wanted to know, how much is "too much" blood from where they cut her open? It's slowed down now, but still. And also, it says "if your dog licks the spot, put an e-collar on" what would you suggest for me? SHe only licks it when she lays down for me to look at it (that I'm aware of), but I don't want her hurting herself freaking over the e-collar.

Ariel was laser spayed. - no bleeding from the incision at all.

Dax - very very little bleeding.

I would call your vet.

See, we got her spayed through the humane society, so we'll need to get pain medication for her, would you suggest we take her along so they can check her?

Sometimes an internal suture will rupture. If you feel uneasy with it go with your instincts. They usually are not wrong. Better to check tonight then find out to late you were right. Good Luck Hope all works out! Will keep you in my prayers.

I have to agree with the other posters. Bleeding shouldn't be happening, so a repeat visit to the vet would be the way to go,
