Cooperative Adoption Event

Today I represented our Rescue Organization at a meeting to assemble a cooperative adoption event for all of the humane societies & rescues in 4 counties. It's planned for August but still in the planning stage, so they're still looking for ideas & formats. A few have been established so far.
I found it very interesting and was wondering if anyone out there has participated in an event like this before? If so, can you share with me any personal info? For instance: How successful are they in general? What ascpects were the best? What were not so great? And anything else you'd like to add.
It sounds like a great opportunity to meet others in rescue face to face. It would also, get a larger group of our furry friends in one place to be seen by those looking for a new family member rather that just a picture on the internet, which is usually the case for most in a rescue situation as they live in foster homes.
Thanks so much for any input you can provide me with!

I have no suggestions....never been involved in anything like this before, but it sounds like a great idea!!! Anything that would make more of the dogs needing adoption getting more exposure is a great plan to me!! Hope it all works out well!!

I hope so too! Thanks Sue

Today I'm taking the puppy to the local pet store where another rescue is always at. I wasn't too keen on parading the dogs around, but in Merle's case.. I now believe that he would be better off if he can be seen in person rather than just a pix on the internet. His personality & charm are not nearly portayed as well! I hope all goes well. Perhpas it will be a taste of how the cooperative event might go???

I know the Skagit Humane Society (no kill shelter) does swap dogs with other shelters and have found it to be really helpful. Other than that, it sounds like a good idea.
