Red Doberman in NW Ohio

This is Precious. She is a 7 year old Red Doberman located in NW Ohio at at the local Humane Society. She is very sweet and loves people. She does very well with cats, but will not tolerate all dogs. However, she behaves perfectly fine until a dog gets into her face. She has never snapped, but she has growled and tried to move away. She will need a home where she is the only dog. She does seem to have a bit of a hard time moving around, especially sitting or going to the bathroom. She is very smart, loves treats, learns fast. She should be easily housebroken. She has gone in her kennel, but I believe the problem is just that she cannot get out as often as she needs. She is a quiet dog that I hardly ever hear bark, even when the entire shelter seems to be in an uproar of barking dogs. She walks well on a leash, but when scared she has been known to back completely out of her collar. This girl has been sitting in the shelter for a long time. I want to see her go to a good home. If anyone knows someone looking for a Dobe in the IN, OH, MI area, she might be the dog for them!

She's pretty. I can check with one of my friends, I think he wanted to get two doberman siblings though... not sure if he's ready for a dog yet either.

I know that there are some on this forum that are somewhat in the area. Keep your ears and eyes open for anyone that would be willing to take Precious. She's been here too long.

I do know that there is a member here that is very involved in rescue and owns a dobe herself? I'm sorry, I forget your name. If there are any places/people that you know would take her, it'd be GREAT to get her out of the kennel and into a foster home or permanent home.

As of this current moment, no, but that soon will be changing. I was a volunteer for a very long time and kept turning down their offers for a job, but I'm finally taking the offer. I am the dog trainer and temperament tester, but will soon also have the job as staff member and kennel hand.

Thankyou for the rescue name. I'll be getting into contact with them and keep them saved for future reference. We seem to be getting a few dobes here and there. There was a beautiful black and tan female only one year old. Had one prick ear, the other flop. She was absolutely adorable and had a PERFECT temperment. She was actually the dog we were using today to temperament test all the others because she was so lovely. She was adopted today, though I wished she could have gone to an even better home.

EDA: a picture, because we all love pictures!

Now, this is in the very Northwest corner of Ohio, only about 40 min from the IN border. The actual shelter is located right outside of Montpeiler, OH (though has a Bryan, OH address).

I have already sent an email, should I call still? or wait for a response via email?

You may be out of her range, but if she can help she will!!! I would give her a day or 2 with the email.

You can also try Illinois Doberman Rescue, they are a good bunch also.

I would be hesitant to take her here due to her dog "issues"
