BC Area Senior Dog - "Sammi"

****THIS MATTER IS URGENT AND WHY IT WOULD BE FLAGGED IS BEYOND COMPREHENSION AND COULD COST THIS POOR SENIOR DOG HER LIFE!*******

URGENT: Sammi needs to find her new family!!
For more information on Sammi please contact Linda at arocha2@shaw.ca

Sammi was adopted by my elderly parents from a shelter in Abbotsford about 13 years ago, and is estimated to be about 14—you wouldn't know it, though, when you walk her. She goes like stink, and is hard to keep up with!

She's wonderful with people—never been known to snap, even when her teeth were cleaned recently without an anesthetic—adoring and affectionate.

She'll jump and play with a ball for short periods at a time. But she's had virtually no exposure to children. Also, she is not socialized with other dogs, and was "trained" by my father to chase cats out of his yard. So it would be risky to place her with another animal.

She does have some arthritis, which has been managed with Hills' joint support dry and occasionally Metacam. But she was overweight up until about 6 months ago, and since she's got trim she seems to be a lot more perky. She has a tendency towards ear infections, and therefore her ears should be cleaned at least once a week (ideally, daily).

She also needs a good brushing regularly because her coat is long and will tend to tangle. She has a large black growth hanging from the back of her left leg, which the vet has diagnosed as benign, and she has been developing small fatty deposits under her skin for the past few years. Again, the vet isn't concerned about them.

She's used to being with her people 24 hours a day, and she's currently being cared for by people who can't let her into their house (she's staying in an RV on their property). They do walk her regularly and try to spend time with her.

Since my father had to go into a care facility she's been pining.

Sammi would be a perfect companion for someone who's not away from home a lot, and has no other pets.

Note: A home visit will be required and a small adoption fee applies. Sammi needs to spend her retirement years in comfort and contentment.

Is this dog already in rescue? Petfinder?

Any idea of the mix so that you could find certain rescues that would be more likely to take it?

May I crosspost this on the petfinder forums?
