Even if you don't live in Ohio, this is a must read.

I was at the Dr's office today and two of the surgical nurses have nine dogs between them (Sara 4 and Teresa 5 ) all from shelters When I was there last week there happened to be some dog pictures in the hallway and of course we got talking. Today they gave me this web site to check out
and I thought I would share it with you...if you don't read it all, do check out legislation.

http://www.banohiodogauctions.com/

under 'overview' could the mention of the akc registration be true. I am going to email them.

that is the main reason that I feel the akc is worthless! they will register any dog that has the fee paid. if they actually stopped the puppy mills, just imagine how much money they would lose.

Why does it have to be Ohio . Millersburg is Amish Country for us too. I know when I got Denali everybody wanted to make sure I didn't buy her from the Amish because I guess they don't take good care of their pets. I always thought that they took care of their pets, but sounds like I was wrong.

As much as I like the Amish they do not do well breeding dogs and they are treated less in many ways than cattle. Way too many puppy mills in Ohio and Pa.

here's what I don't get about the Amish, if they deny most of our modern conveniences and live plainly.....so why do they need so much money?

How is it Christian-like to basically lie to people? I don't get it.

This is so sad,I grew up in Ohio, lived there most of my life,we lived close to Amish country, they always took care of their animals, but, animals to them serve a purpose,if they didn't,they didn't stay long, the dogs they had, were watch dogs,or helped herd animals,we never seen any that raised puppies, several times,we were a guest to eat with them, this just is so upsetting to think of those poor puppies in small cages, uncared for.

As in all societies some are good and some are bad. You can't tar all people with the same brush.
I know some Amish farmers whose pets are just that pets but as we all know on a farm everyone has to do a job. Even their chi catches mice in the house.

They have to pay property taxes just like we do, and they support their church and large extended families.
