Transportation? ACD from OH to CT

An adoption of an Australian Cattle Dog at my shelter is under way. After putting this dog out on the internet to get him noticed and out of the shelter, a person gave me an email and was very interested. This person is located in CT and willing to adopt, but we are trying to work out some kind of transportation. This would need to happen the first week of May after the 2nd.

Although experienced and educated in training and behavior, I am only 17 years old myself and very much ignorant on the details and procedures of rescue and transportation.

If anyone can help, has any info, knows any names that could be useful.. it'd be greatly appreciated.

Your shelter should have a transport coirdinator.(sp) There are several groups you can contact to help with a transport.

Sometimes it takes alot of work, but usually things fall into place.

Let me see what I can do, I am in CT and might be able to help. Also go to the underhoundrailroad (.com?!) or contact Tanya at Valley shore Animal Welfare League in Westbrook, she can help locate a contact person! (Tell her Kara sent you!)

It is only a humane society, and they really never knew much about rescue and long distance adoptions until another very wonderful person adopted a 16 year old deaf chihuahua and through some communication and workign all this stuff out, the humane society is Now willing to work with rescues and long distance adoptions, but still very new to it.

I've got another person contacting an ACD rescue coordinator to see about transportation. Keep your fingers crossed!
