You can't always tell, but they do get hot like us. You can check the belly and the inside of the ears for redness, as this can be a good indication.

Feeling their belly is a way of checking for fever or check for warm dry nose. When Uma had a fever last month I could tell something was wrong right off...the dog was lethargic, dry nose, and the heat was just radiating off of her body. We gave her an asprin and wirthin a couple of hours the fever broke......plus, if you think your **** has a fever given them a tepid bath just like you do for children. I would NOT give an asprin to a puppy though.

sick pup

Making sure they have pink gums helps too. What kind of dog is it? If its a toy breed make sure to feed frequently and watch sugar levels. I am dealing with a hypoglycemic pup, and it runs fairly frequent in small breeds. With puppy it is always good to supplement if is not eating well....Nutrical is a great help with sugar levels and nutrition! Let us know how he is....
