3 year old apricot Standard poodle

I just got this e-mail and thought I would post it here.

Good Morning,
>
>Here is a sad story of a young Standard Poodle that needs a new home.
>Lyla is a three year old apricot Standard that is currently being kept
>in a garage because her owners don't like her behavior and "didn't
>realize that she would be so active". Before she was confined to the
>garage she was kept crated. She does not get exercise or chances to
>socialize. Her neighbor has talked to the owner and the owner has
>expressed an interest in getting her re-homed.
>
>She will need a loving home that will provide her with some training
>and a chance to play with people and other dogs. She will probably
>exhibit separation anxiety and will need to be crated when left alone for awhile.
>This is a sensitive situation because the owner is not open to having a
>lot of people come to meet her. Therefore, If you are willing to take a
>chance on her and foster her for a short time, we can locate the
>perfect home for her (unless of course you fall in love with her!).
>
>Please call me for more information. 206-842-5301 (evenings)
>
>Thanks,
>Joan

Ah!... I have a tiny (almost) apricot poodle.
You may want to pm me to see if you're interested in seeing if the rescue I foster for can take her in, possibly even me. If not, there are pure breed poodle rescues here too. I'd have to look up the info. A lady at the park recently got a second one (a standard) from them. Rescues are often full but it seems adoptions have been picking up lately (with the nicer weather I suppose??) Anyway, let me know???

This was from a rescue. I am on a list, but can't take this one because I could not trust that she would not be afraide of my 4 y/o son. So, you can call the number there and ask about this dog. I am sure they would love to have you help out.

Poor dog! I will never understand why people think that dogs come with automatic trained behavior! I used to groom a beautiful, gentle Apricot Standard years ago, his name was Rex.We don't see too many of the breed in my area. I do hope he finds a home.

Oh, I was under the impression a rescue was being sought for her and that she was still at her residence. Sorry, I misunderstood. I'm sure the poodle rescue will be able to work with her to socialize and get some basic obedience in place to rehome her. If they can't, please have someone contact me. Also, are you on the list to adopt or foster? I thought you were looking for a non shedding breed? I understand about your son. Some time obedience and socialization can go a loooooong way and do wonders for both the humans and the canine!

She is still at her residence, I think. The owner's neighbors are trying to ger her to re-home the dog.

I am looking for a dog/puppy, but I think this one would be more then my 4 y/o son could handle. It would be terrible if we were to get her and she was scared of him. So, I will not take her because of that. I don't know for sure how she would act, but would rather find something that didn't start out with problems.
