Quick post

Dusty had her second glucose check today. Her level is way down, so her vet lowered the insulin units from 43 to 40 and today to 38.

I know nothing about dog diabetes, but this sounds good!

I'm glad for you and Dusty!

Do you have to feed her a special diet? Or just insulin injections every day?

Thank you Diamond. She is not really on a special diet, just cutting down on treats and such. D gets 2 insulin injections daily.

How old is Dusty? I am always concerned about Diabetes in dogs, is this something that happens in older dogs? Is there something we can do to avoid this or is it hereditery as in humans?

Dusty is 9 1/2. From what I understand this comes on really fast. She had a CBC done in January because she was having surgery, on that test her glucose level was 132 which is within normal limits. (70 - 140 for dogs) When she had the last one done, this month, her glucose level was over 400.
Thanks all for the congrats for Dusty. She goes back next week for another recheck.
