Unhappy Alternative Medicine

Hi Everyone,

I am brand new to the board, and I joined because I know there are knowledgable minds out there that can offer suggestions....

I have 3 small Italian Greyhounds......one being a 7 year old named Othello. He is the love of our lives, and he gets the best care we can give him.

But conventional medicine falls short of "prevention" when it comes to tumors & cancer.....and this poor little guy is very prone to tumors. 2 years ago we had the vet remove 2 fatty tumors....one from his chest & one on his head. Now again he has 3 more.....one on his tail, side chest, & on his fanny. They appear to be fatty, but I am not going to "wait & see" before taking action to keep him healthy.

I know there are alternative methods out there....methods that inhibit cancer either before it starts or chokes it once it has taken a mild hold. My husband and I take herbal supplements every day for this very purpose, and they include inositol & beta carotene. I know it works for some but not all, but it never hurts to make every effort before something happens. I really believe in alternative healing....

I called my vet, and of course had to leave a message with the assistant, to ask if I were to give my dog beta carotene what dosage could I safely give......and I got the exact answer I expected......to give none at all. Of course.......most vets do not engage in natural or alternative medicine. It is far more profitable for them once the animal gets sick.

I do not want to wait for Thel to get sick & possibly die in pain. Someone out there must have followed other avenues with their pets, or know of someone who has. A woman I know had a 1800 pound horse that was diagnosed with cancer......and the vets threw in the towel & told her to plan for burial. She conferred with hollistic & natural medicine vets from out of state, and with an alternative diet that included 8 pounds of carrots a day among other things, this horse was cured & is now cancer free. Not a miracle.....just the right approach.

Please help me if you can suggest a place to start......Thel is so much a part of this family that the thought of life without him is almost unbearable

Welcome to the forum!!! I am glad you joined. I like the way you think by the way. First I'd find myself a homeopathic vet, I have no idea what city/state you live in or I'd help you find one. Good luck!!!

What a warm welcome...happy to have found this forum

I really do appreciate the day brightening compliment......after seeing people & animals suffer "after the fact", I have found prevention to be a much more valuable approach.

Thank you for reminding me to add my location.....I am in Casa Grande Arizona....which is just shy of halfway between Phoenix & Tucson.

Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated........

As Bosley said,I would look for an alternative/homeopathic vet. They are more expensive but are becoming more and more popular cos more and more people are realizing that it works.
What about going tothe bookshop or library to look for a book on homeopathic medicine.
By the way,hello and welcome!.
