This is a sad story-these two young dogs were dumped at our home. As you can see the condition is VERY poor. They are NOT socialized and will growl at my three year old. As you can see they have mange and lord knows what else. I was able to sneak up on them to get some wormer into them, but that is about it. They have been here since Tuesday and it seems every "Rescue Group" in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area cannot help. We are in the country so animal control is pretty much non existent. I called the SPCA for advise. I assumed that they of all people would know what to do. The lady who answered my call interrupted me several times before I could even finish relaying the information. She interrupted me fist to tell me that they do not pick up animals. The second time she interrupted me was to inform me that they will not take in animals with mange. As my frustration grew I had to interrupt her to inform that all I wanted is any information on rescue groups in the area that I could bring them to (if I could even catch them). She then told me to just look online-how helpful from the largest organization in the US-

Since this conversation I have contacted many other organizations. No one can do anything. I found a different number for the SPCA and thought I would try to talk to someone from another location-this is how the conversation went-

First I was told the same thing as before-we don't pick up animals
I then asked "Why do I see you guys on the news rescuing animals-hundreds at a time to include some with mange?"
Her response-"Well, those animals are abused and neglected."

Huh????

I then informed her that these animals were obviously abused and neglected
Her response-"Are you abusing and neglecting them?"

Huhh????

I then found out that if I was the owner, only then would they come to get them.

Here we are trying to do the HUMANE thing-and this is what I got from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-

Do to everything we have gone through with these two young pups-I will be starting a web site devoted to helping everyone to find help-I will be gathering links to HELPFUL organizations as having pages devoted to helping find homes for animals that individuals have rescued themselves. I will list by state. I do not have everything worked out as of yet, so anyone that wants to help out and send links or whatever-just drop me a line.
