Are we poisoning our pets?

With all these vaccinations are we poisoning our pets?

My Opinion, yes!

I myself will be starting a schedule of either 1 vaccination or none when my next litter is bred still undecided at this point. It just makes me sad to hear people giving Vaccinations at 6 weeks!

It's a difficult one because in the UK I don't think we vaccinate as much as you do in the US. We vaccinate at 8 and 10 weeks and our vet doesn't do yearly boosters for everything, just for certain things (can't remember what right now). Also we only have to vaccinate for rabies if we intend to travel under the PETS travel scheme so that's another vaccination that we don't HAVE to give in the UK.

The reason I chose my vet is because they are so up to date on the latest developments, they will advise you on what they think and won't necessarily try to sell you expensive prescription meds (take Poppy, once her fur problem was sorted the vet said no need to get the dog meds from her but to use OTC human meds for a fraction of the price). But I'm going off topic here.

Our vet thinks 6 weeks is way to young to vaccinate and I agree. I have to vaccinate otherwise Poppy wouldn't be covered on her pet insurance but I am so glad that I have a vet that is up to date with the latest reseach in order to protect her the best way I can.

Ok.. I watched my dog suffer horribly when I was 10 with distemper. One little shot would have saved his life.

I have seen puppies come into our vet's office with Parvo. Again, no reason for a 6 month old puppy not to be fully vacinated.

Why are dogs dying of cancer because our air, our soil and our water are containated but because of some vacinations. Why are humans dying of cancer, because we live long enough to get sick of it and they know enough to tell us what it is.

Read up on how many people died of the flu during WWI (or was it WWII can't remember am at work).

I will always get them shots and I will always consider it a disservice not to .

Working at a vet hospital in my younger days.. cleaning up after and helping with parvo pups.. seeing distemper.. seeing a horse go through tetnus.. (never did see rabies though..) nope I don't think we are over vaccinating or poisoning our pets.. or even people/kids.

NO, Not always. It might have caused other things too. Vaccinations are not a guarantee they to me are a way to make ppl feel better and safe when they really shouldn't.

I sadly know more about Pet Vaccinations than human vaccinations I have also now educated myself in this area a bit so now my child will no longer receive vaccinations. One reason being to me is it better that my child develop something like autism or is it going to be safe for her to get the measles? measles goes away autism doesn't. To me Doctors and vets need to give the open and honest facts about what we put in us and pets so we can all make an informed decision.

Autism being linked to vaccines is a myth, the anti-vaccine people came up with that years ago saying it was the mercury (I believe that's what it was).. then studies continued to show after they removed that ingredient that reported causes still had not been reduced. Its really a shame the law suits going on right now, basically people may win settlement even though the SCIENCE says its not true.. just people feel sorry for the parents and kids.

No, I don't believe I'm over vaccinating my dog. If I didn't want him to have a certain shot, I wouldn't get it for him or pay for it.

OK I really didn't want to make this into a human vaccination thread but I will give an example of what I have seen knowing ppl that don't vaccinate their kids.

A good friend of mine daughter 2 weeks older than my child which turned 2 in march. She has never been sick not one day in her life. Has had not even 1 vaccination. Both my child and her child were breast fed the only difference is my child had a mild ear infection at age 6 months and has had a couple of colds and flu 1 time. No one can tell me it must be the father or the mothers immunity because she and he both were stricken with multiple ear infections dad having tubes I think very sick as young babies. I believe she received something like 36 vaccinations in her short 4 yrs of life. and so you don't see a pattern?

Another friend of mine her boy is 4 months younger than my child was at the ER and doctors every other week from being sick all the time was breastfed a bit but not as much as me and my other friend. He now has tubes and hearing loss and still getting ear infections with the tubes in. Has a cold 24/7. Mother was never that sick as a child so still couldn't be an immunity problem that was passed on.

I say yes some of it has to do with breastfeeding but I believe the issues that come up also has to do with the vaccinations too.
