Warning-sargeants Gold Flea And Tick Squeeze On

Just a warning, my sister put the Sargeants gold Flea and Tick squeeze on on one of her dogs and it almost killed her. She has an 8 year old Dalmation/Pit Bull mix and a 13 year old black lab. She put it on both of them and in 3 hours, it almost killed Holly, the 8 year old. She turned beet red around her muzzle and her stomach, was foaming at the mouth, then she was shaking uncontrollable and she lost control of her muscles and couldnt walk. Both her and Bo also had terrible stomach pains and gas. This was about 1:00 in the morming and unfortunately wher we live there is not a vet who will come in at that time. She went to the vet first thing this morning and the vet said she had an allergic reaction and this flea and tick control is still in the testing stage and all results arent in. So please be careful when you use this. I myself will not even consider it. What also was so terrible is while she was suffering so much a flea walked across her paw and it did nothing to stop them!!!

Flea treatment does not kill the flea as soon as it touches the dog. Whoever can patent that without harming the dog would make a killing. Usually flea treatments interupt the reproductive cycle, and make fleas unable to reproduce, or kill the eggs, so that the fleas do not live on the dog. Even treatments that are supposed to kill the fleas, won't make them drop dead in a split-second. Think about an ant trap. The ants take the food into the mound, they put it into their feeding chamber, the ants eat it, and when it gets into their system, they die.

With Advantix from what the Bayer rep explanied to us...it is a repellant....so the flea isnt supposed to get to the skin to bite...but will be affected by the treatment and WILL die....eventually I guess. LOL...I never recommend OTC flea/tick treatments...unfortunatley many dogs have problems with them!
