Buddy's Vet Visit

Buddy made it through his xrays.such a relief, I was a nervous wreck all this morning. His knees are good, his back is good, right hip shows slight beginning of arthritis, left hip...... very rough, as the Vet put it.Buddy is around 10, Dr. said no surgery. He recommended, weight loss,(Purina O/M),Dasaquin instead of Cosaqin and Versamex(pain med.)I have his xrays and will meet with my Vet to discuss the other recommendations. I had to go to a different Vet because mine doesn't have an xray machine that would accomodate Buddy. So good news that he made it through anethesia and both hips aren't gone, but bad news that the one is pretty bad and if the pain can't be reduced, of course I won't let him suffer.

awe, I hope your vet is able to tell you more about helping with the pain. I know for Pharaohs post surgery pain they gave me Zubrin, its a little pricey but it worked great. Maybe you could ask your vet about it and if it would be ok for long term. When i saw Pharaoh's xrays i burst into tears and cried for about an hour so i understand what your going through. Luckily for him he is younger and surgery was an option. I'll pray for you both. let me know how it goes.

It's at leastgood news to hear that there are options. Sorry about Buddy hip. It's always so hard when you know they are in pain.

Glad to hear he's through the anaesthesia!! I'm praying that the new medication regime and diet are successful in keeping Buddy painfree!

I’m sorry to hear about Buddy's hip, but I'm glad he made it through the anaesthesia and that there are options. I’ll keep him in my prayers too, give him a hug from us!

LMJ, I should of checked here first instead of the "IM" I am sure you can get some pain reliever for Buddy, other than what was mentioned. (with you an me) Good TLC and some more spoiling. He has to just relax and become more of a couch potatoe!! He has many years left in him!! I have a 12, 10 and a 7 year old. They all have thier ailments. But look at Sahra Janes mess a few months ago, Harley still travels to the great unknown and Molley, pees her panties when she's not on Proin! I call them "The Elders" Buddy is an Elder now! It's life! Hugs to and Buddy!!! Don't worry, He loves you and he knows you love him more!!!!
