GSD and GSD/Husky mix

"Cordin" is a young, female GSD located at the Williams County Humane Society in Bryan, OH. She was found at a park, skinny and scared. She doesn't know her new name yet. She is very sweet, affectionate, and loving. She adores attention and loves to give kisses. She is mellow, and also very sensitive. She knows obedience, but was was mistreated and abused with very harsh training methods. Raising your hands, yelling, and even only speaking commands "sit" or "down" will make her lay her ears flat. But otherwise, she is very friendly with people, and so long as you are patient, kind, and gentle she warms up very fast. She accepts handling, though is again sensitive about being touched around her butt and will lower her ears flat, but there were absolutely no signs of human aggressive. During the "pinch test", she did nothing more than look at the foot/toes I was pinching and whimper. This will not be the type of dog to snap at something when it is scared. As for other dogs, due to her previous abusive/harsh trainer she does have a negative correlation with other dogs and may raise hair and act slightly aggressive, however this is done simultaneously with reacting as if all she'd like to do is play. When introduced slowly with other dogs, she gets along wonderfully, plays(nicely/gently), and will relax. She is wonderful with cats as well. She will investigate, but she is gentle and licked. When introduced to a small kitten she licked, was very gentle, and acted as if she might try to mother and snuggle with it. She would make a wonderful pet for someone that is kind and gentle.

This is Trixie. She is most likely a GSD/Husky mix. A young female, very sweet and walks well on a leash, but doesn't have much of any obedience training. She supposedly knows sit according to previous owners, but doesn't respond well or quickly to it. She is good with other dogs, and good with cats. She's very sweet, accepts grooming, and mellow. She doesn't bark or jump around in her kennel at the shelter.

If anyone is in the OH/IN/MI area that knows of a rescue or someone willing to help these dogs, especially Cordin who needs a special home that understands dogs that have been abused, please contact the shelter at 1-419-636-2200 for extra information. Or give them an email at zookeeper111@aol.com

They're both beautiful! Sending the best of wishes for a happy future to both of them! I couldn't adopt one but would have fostered either one in a heartbeat until the right family came along for them! They both sound wonderful!

And now she's found a home!!

I posted some of this very same description on some of my other forums, and though I don't know who it was that read it and decided to look into her, someone from Akron, OH phoned the humane society about her and is taking her home now! I only wished the person would have replied on the forum. I'd love more than anything to thank this person SO much. What a wonderful dog she was, and how DETERMINED I was to find her a good home with someone that understood positive training methods(not likely to find someone like that in this area), and that I even became discouraged when no one replied on my forums. I'd love to thank this person, if only I knew who they were.

But anyway, Corwin got a bath today by a young boy doing community service today while I was working. I couldn't help but to pause my own work and go congratulate this wonderful dog, wish her luck, and give her a kiss goodbye.

URGENT

Corin's adopters never came to get her. She's been at the shelter since, and her feet are just too sensitive to take the concrete floors. They are raw and bloody. We've been putting blankets down for her, matting, but she still manages to get her feet all sore from the concrete. They are putting her down if no one takes her immediately. I got them to give me some time to contact some people and see if anyone could possibly do anything..

I am so sorry that I can't help one of these dogs. I would be glad to donate some money toward their care. Trixie looks exactly like two female GSD/husky mixes I have owned-they could be triplets!

I wish I were closer and I'd certainly try to do something to help her! I really hope someone can come to her rescue and fast!

I have found someone involved in GSD rescue that has set up a foster home. They can take her if we can get transportation.

Corin is at Bryan, OH and needs to be transported to Buffalo, NY. If anyone is on the way, in the area, willing to help, email me at tessa_s212@hotmail.com as well as reply here please. I can get your email to the person that is taking Corin so that you guys can continue to converse and work things out, even if I can't be online. I'm doing my best to help work out not only one dog's transportation to rescue, but two... and right now it is very hard due to circumstances, so I do apologize if I don't reply right away.
