My chihuahua is always giving himself surface cuts/scratches (not deep at all) due to the fact he is trying to scratch his flea bites. I have tried putting first aid medications made for this problem in dogs but he finds a way to lick it and it results in him vomiting. Is there anything I can use to treat these lacerations that would not cause my buddy to vomit?

first use advantage to avoid flea bites, what are you using brand wise I used polysporin tehy liked but never puked?

I have used both Frontline as well as Avantage never being able to control flea 100%. They just help somewhat. As far as what I've used it's a product made by Sargeant for hot spots and first aid.

Polysporin shouldn't make him vomit, so you can apply small amount - rub in well. Treat the flea bites with "Afterbite" there are also home remedies involving vinger but for the life of me I can't think of what they are. They might even make a polysporin for bug bites at would be available in your drug store.

We don't have a flea problem in Edmonton, but mosqitos (sorry about the spelling)are another story. Take to your vet about the flea treatment you are using during your next visit - maybe he has a better idea.

1) control fleas (frontline etc)
2) if he does get lacerations form something else get a busta collar to stop him licking the meds you put on him.

Frontline and Advantage should control your flea problem 100%, you need to keep applying to maintain it's effectiveness. The fleas could be in your dogs surroundings, it depends on how many animals have the flea stuff on to how quickly the surroundings come under control. So if you only have one dog, I would suggest bombing your house with a treatment to help get things under control.
Give your dog a nice bath in a suitable non alergic dog wash. Go to your vets and pick up some stuff called Debrisol, it is for animal use, has a terrible taste and heals wounds within days. It should put your dog off licking, if he persists, an infection will ensue, he can even get a temp. and need antibiotics. Once your dog is flea free he won't need to lick, although some can develop acral lick dermatitis, another problem altogether!!

I have gone through the whole line of flea control products that are available not only at the pet store but also at the vet Frontline, K-9 Advantix as well as a few others. I have only one dog and he is an indoor dog. I have bombed my apartament and I have done everything possible. Obviously I can't control if my neighbors decides not to control the flea problem on their pets. We also have strays that roam around. I live in Florida which is ideal for flea reproduction.

WoW!! sounds like you have a real problem there, but you can only keep at it.
Are you really sure that the bites are from fleas?
The other thing, sorry it is call Acral Lick Granuloma, but I guess you have probably been backwards and forwards to the vets already, they should have picked this up.
Try the stuff to stop the licking as best you can. My old boy Jake(deceased) used to hate this stuff, he would run and hide as soon as he saw the bottle, it stinks bad, but really works!!
