Daisy is Getting Spayed

Daisy just turned 6 mos and is getting spayed on Tuesday. The vet will keep her overnight but I was wondering what to expect when she comes home. How long does it take to be back to normal and is there anything I should watch for.

Time flies - just seems like yesterday when I was asking about taking her on a long road trip when she was 8 weeks. Thank you to everyone for all of your very helpful information.

Are you having her done with Laser or regular. She might be a little tired the first couple of days. You should try to keep her from jumping, bouncing and running to avoid ripping stitches Other than that you'll be hard pressed to notice a difference.

Depends on the dog... How sedate is she usually, and how she usually responds to pain/touch. She may be tired for a day to three... she may be bouncy as normal.

Thanks for the information. I don't know what kind of surgery they are going to do - but I will ask tomorrow. Daisy is only 10 lbs. so she won't be a problem to carry around. We are in Arizona for the winter and there are two very good Vets here. The one clinic takes them in early in the am and you pick them up that evening. The other one I chose because they do keep them overnight. I think that is a lot better should there be any complications.

I personally like the idea of leaving them overnight. When you pick her up she will be a littlt more herself, and like you said if there are problems the vets office is a great place to be. I like it just because I worry so much, and am afraid I would do something wrong.
When Clifford got neutered I had to pick him up the same day. I waited till as late as possible. He was just fine!!!! With that said, dont worry, she is in good hands!

Just an update on Daisy. We picked her up this morning to rave reviews on what a good dog she is. Everyone loved her because she just loves everyone. She is a bit subdued by wanted to have a little walk and check out the house before she settled in for her nap. I think by the way she is acting she will be totally herself by tomorrow.
Thanks for all the moral support.
