Fighting Gas in Dogs
Controlling Gas in Dogs
As most of you know, Faith has BAD GAS! She is on a high quality food (Canidae) and eats a normal amount on a normal schedule. She just has bad gas. Along with frequent diarreah. I've had her on many, many food and nothing has helped. She's been on canned and has to be on canned because if she's not getting canned mixed in she throws up stomach acid. There's really no explanation for it, it just works so we do it. But the gas. It's BAD. Stinky. Loud. BAD. The vet hasn't found any underlying medical problem, so we're trying to come up with other ways to fight it. Here's what I've come up with so far. (And once I am working again, we'll start it) Pumpkin I've noticed she does better with it, so I am adding a spoonful to each meal everday. It naturally calms her digestive tract. Enzymes Live Enzymes help with the digestion process. I've got a couple brands I am looking at, but if anyone knows anything specific that works, let me know. Oatmeal Good fiber snack that I am adding to her diet every few days. Lucky for me, she loves it. I am using a plain, whole grain formula. Anything else anyone can think of? |

Kota burps a lot..in our faces.. but that's off topic..just thought i'd share...lol.
Anyway I did a search on Gas relief for dogs. I came up with this. I'd do a bit more research on it before giving it to her. But it is worth looking into. http://www.chineseherbsdirect.com/ga...ogs-p-385.html?= |

My first collie Molly was a champion burper. Her favorite time to burp was right after a snuggle or a kiss. So very charming. She also barfed up stomach acid every once in a while. Even more charming. Our vet said unless it was far more often than it happened, it was best to let her get it out of her system.
I think the diarrhea (or dire rear as it's known in our house) would worry me more than the gas. I'm sorry Miss Faith has tummy troubles, wish I had something truly helpful to add...maybe simethicone - like Gas-X? I was reading somewhere that any collie owner should have that on hand - as an emergency bloat aid to reduce some of the gas, therefore pressure on the stomach, hopefully to allow more blood flow to the organs and allow time to get to an E-vet. |

Faith...I feel your pain....Hudson has the most stinky f@rts in the world....to the point of gagging. His burps are not much better.
I think I am going to try this pumpkin buisness, but if you find something that does work let me know, because Hudson also has a throwing up bial problem. |
