Pet ER?

Don't worry, everything's fine! Sorry if I scared any of you with this title...

But I was wondering, what if in the middle of the night, you HAVE to get medical help for you dog... is there a 'dog ER'? (As in my Veterinary hospital is closed and I need immediate help)

Just thought about it today... it's a good thing to know in advance.

Depends where you live, my town is kinda small, but most vets have an on call doc that will come in for an emergency. The cost is about quadruple that of a normal visit though.....but worth it if you need it!

Didn't know that. I went to my vet's site and found their Emergency Veterinary Hospital and its number. Thanks for the help!

I think we have two 24-hour emergency vet hospitals in Vancouver.

On Christmas Day almost 4 years ago, I rushed my Piper into the ER vet. It was too late, she was gone, but I am thankful they were there. It gave me a little hope that got me through it all. They sure do charge a lot, but it's a great service.

There are a couple, but they are the kind where you leave a message and someone will get back to you. I live in too remote of an area. I know there is an excellent 24/7 ER in Appleton, WI.

I drove up to the dog ER once... but before the vet saw Denali she was acting fine again, so they didn't charge us. She was faking... what happened is she was learning stairs and took a tumble, then she was limping really bad. We got in the car and started, stopped off two or three times to have her walk and she limped really bad. We got to the vet, she saw people that she wanted to play with and the limp miraculously went away.

At my vet they do have an emergency vet on staff where if you don't have an appointment you can just walk in.
