ok, read that and you'll understand what these questions mean:
-Can dogs die from worms (a question my dad wanted to know. He pointed out that she hasn't started yelping again until after she got the worming medicine. We know its not the medicine thats effecting her because she has had worms before)
-Do you think our actions that we did today are what we should have done? (Should we have given her the asprin?)
-What can we do to help her some more?
-Anything else you think we should know?

Ok, and..
-Do you think it would be wrong of me to put her down because of this neck problem? I mean I can't stand seeing her in pain like this, I just break down emotionally and I would hate to have her on painkillers 24-7. I mean, when shes on them, she doesn't act like her normal, happy, playful self.

UPDATE: She is taking intrest in her food, (I put a piece in her bed and she sniffed it and almost opened her mouth, but didn't and put her head back down) but shes not eating. Thats suggusting a jaw problem, no? So maybe broken jaw I'm not sure- we were gone almost all day today though (from about 2-7 so thats a good 5 hours) so she could have easliy fallen or whacked her jaw or something.

What is the problem with her neck? Has a vet seen her about that?

yep- and all they said is that neck problems are hard to diagnose, like that helped. We are planning on taking her to the vet tomorrow, so this time the vet will take another look and hopefully help us more.

Hunts, sorry but I need some more info. How old and what kind of dog? Neck trouble as in injured or growth? Aspirin will dull the pain but not cure what's wrong. I can think of a couple of things that would cause pain in the jaw. (none are good).
1. Tooth Abcess (spl?)
2. Muscular Myopathy -
3. Lockjaw (disease)

And yes worms can kill a dog. Heartworms cause heart failure, intestinal worms will slowly weaken the dog to the point of death.

I suggest taking this dog to a vet and perhaps he can recommend a Chiroprator for aligining the neck if that is what's wrong.

Give her a gentle hug from us. Poor thing sounds like she's had quite the time already.

Maggie is a rottiXlab. We aren't sure of her age, but we got her 8 years ago and she was full grown then. The vet has estimated her at about 10-11 years old. She had a broken tooth with an abscess in it before, she has a tendency to chew gutters. lol.

What are the others?

Thanks for your help and I'll give her a hug and a kiss from you.

At her age, it might be a case of keeping her comfortable during these last years. She is an old dog. Unfortunately, no one has invented a pill to reverse aging.(first dibs) Your vet is a great resource on how to keep the pain down. You might also want to ask him about the alternative of having her put down to end the suffering.

I would get a second opinion and if the problem was still undetermined then I would consider putting her down.

If it something that cannot be fixed - then you have to consider if you are keeping her around for your sake or hers.
