Unhappy I want to cry They turned me down

I was looking to adopt a new boxer for my family but I was turned down because I have small children and my femal dog was not fixed,I promised to get her fixed and would provide vet letters to prove that she is fixed when she was but they still turned me down because i have children under 2 the boxer rescue of ontario has a new policy that no dogs can be adopted if you have children under 2 or any unfixed dogs in your home i am so upset they sugested going to a breeders but to me its the same problem dogs getting breed so i can have a puppyI don't know what to do now if anyone has anymore suggestion please tell me.

Try looking on petfinder for one in a shelter. I honestly feel that the under two rule should have exceptions.

And Borz, they were breeding theirs because they wanted another boxer, but after listening to Prodoggers, they decided to try rescue first.

How long have you had your current boxer? You may want to give her a little more time and see if you are really sure you want to add another. having two dogs that need adjusting to a new life can be tough in itself not to mention with little kids.

I would wait, get your female spayed and then look into other shelters.

I agree also ,fix your female.and injoy her for a while..
Once the children are older then look into the rescue. You just got one no need to get another right away

I have to agree with the others, give her a little time to herself, she deserves that.
Sometimes it just happens, dogs appear when we least expect them.

As a boxer owner/exhibitor/breeder here are my suggestions:

-Get your female spayed right away
-Give her time to recoup and enjoy life
-Let your kids grow up a little and have them HELP with the dog you have
-Do your research, as you know boxers are fun, but tough on their own, just think what two is like.
-When you are ready, not only talk to rescue but talk to breeders in your area or breeders in general that can point you in the right direction, for an older dog. If you are set on a puppy, that to you can discuss.

Boxers are trying creatures, i know i live with a few. They are loving , good with kids and very fun, but have a mind of their own when it comes to doing what they please. Get used to one, get the routine down, learn some of the "boxerisms" that you many encounter, and work with the girl you have, then go from there is you decide you want another.

I applaud you for listening and deciding NOT to breed your boxer girl. If you would like to chat i would love to help you learn more about boxers and rescues and breeder dogs.

Good Luck
Sarah

Oh I agree! When we looked for another borzoi just as a companion when we made the decission to adopt, the only one available that was a female to help transition with hottie was Femka.. It was amazing! I have no doubt she was set for us...
