Is he vomitting everything he eats? Feed him boiled rice and chicken, and take him to the vet as soon as possible.

Missmolly - this stray may be ill. Moo has excellent advice. Remember to feed small amounts more often. A little at a time is best. I would definately take to your vet for an overall assessment of health.

yes everything comes back up. i did try the chicken and rice with chicken broth and he kept a little of it down. he is an 11 year old cocker and only weighs about 15 pounds. i am afraid he won't live long enough to get to the vets tomorrow. he has a great appetite and maybe i give him too much to start. how much rice mixture would you recommend? may i email a picture of Henry to you so may see the shape he is in? thanks so much for your help.

Start with only a tablespoon. Wait 1/2 to 1 hour. See how he feels. Than another tablespoon. Make sure to keep him calm and resting in between feeding. The stress of being handling might be bringing it up to. You can't undo several weeks of starvation in one meal. Even if you just stick with unsalted broth.

Henry sounds like he's in the hands of somebody who is really in for his best interest. So good job to start with.

I would give him just a bit, a quarter cup or so to start with, and wait an hour or so to see if it stays down, then give him some more....

I hope he does well. Good luck.

thanks so much for your help. he actually came from the Adopt a Recue Pet foundation. they didn't charge me an adoption fee because they didn't think they would be able to place him otherwise. and i just went to the pet store to get cat food for my two kitties.

aww I feel bad for you and him.I hope he turns out okay, molly. Good lucky with your dog. It could be maybe he is ill probably because he's starving or maybe of old age since he's 11. But don't take advice from me, Moo and Dax are the one's with the advice.
